Our Story

Making it quality and affordable.

Dream it.

The dream began with an idea in 2019.  Jon (Johnny) was about to begin a new journey for himself by undertaking a hobby after retiring from a very successful 46 year career in Dentistry.  He wanted to incorporate some of his acquired hand skills and extensive knowledge of wire and metals into his new hobby of making wired jewelry.  He began creating jewelry, what he likes to call his handcrafted wearable art.  He had a dream to over time of growing this fledgling hobby into much more, by capitalizing on his resolve to never shy away from a challenge and tapping into his tenacious determination to succeed.  He has learned and continues to press to create beautifully uniquely designed wire jewelry pieces.  He is constantly challenging his ability to create jewelry that is distinctively his own style and different so the wearer can know the piece of jewelry they bought is one-of a-kind.  Jon tries to never be a cookie cutter producer of all the same pieces, that are so commonly seen in handmade wire jewelry.  His desire is to be an artisan with wire that brings out the beauty and story of the rocks or stone he uses with his wire work.  A minimalist in the use of wire, trying to never overshadow the unique stones he uses from all over the world.

Building it.

Jon realized that his youngest daughter, Natalie (Michélle) had unique and wonderful skills and experience with beading.  He incorporated her beading with his wire work and together they were creating even more unique designs, leading to a joining of their creative abilities and unique artistry in both their fledgling hobbies into a growing Oklahoma City Business in Spring of 2020. Always keeping to a mission to create affordable high quality wearable art jewelry that can be worn for any occasion.  They have consistently developed a unique line of wire and beaded jewelry that has a growing following of patrons of all ages.  They have incorporated Jon’s wife, Martha, as the head of their marketing for their company, JonMichélle Designs, making it a small family business, always focusing on the bigger picture of continued growth in spite of the pandemic starting in Winter of 2020.

Growing it.

Jon and Michélle have continued to broaden the scope of JonMichélle Designs to expand into JonMichélle Designs “& More” aspect of the business.  Expanding to provide a number of products other than just their initial handmade wearable art (jewelry) i.e. necklaces and earrings.  They added Jon’s oldest daughter Kelley’s line of artistically designed handmade wood wall decor pieces, which have now been discontinued.  Beside Jon’s daughter’s and their spouses, his son Jonathan and his wife Danyel are consultants on marketing. Jonathan was integral in designing our marketing logo and marketing designs. We are working to keep our product line a part of our family’s every day activities with hopes of even including some of our 8 grandkids possibly into the family business if they desire to participate.

Sharing it.

Our business has grown consistently, from its inception early in summer of 2019, but slower than anticipated because of the pandemic’s impact on providing access to our handcrafted wearable art jewelry and home decor items through a very limited number of craft shows available due to the global pandemic.   During the pandemic our team has worked improving our skills, and continuing to create in our design studio and home shop.  We have tried to utilize only Facebook and Etsy to try to get postings of our designs out into the market place using our JonMichélle Designs and More pages on Facebook and Etsy in the later part of 2020.  We have utilized it more to get word out there about our products, but with the end of the pandemic looming with the start of 2021, we felt a need to find more ways to expand  to a continuous 24/7 access and consistent flow of our product information to our wonderful followers and patrons.  We have been working through the start of 2021 to make it easier to keep our patrons and followers up with our growing line of jewelry designs and products.  We need a much more personal way to contact with our patrons, that Facebook and Etsy just don’t allow.  They are over used by many to do everything from showcasing, marketing, communicating, and selling.  Neither is an all in one service, nor are they very personable.

Involve others in it.

In 2021, we plan to move to a constant online presence, expanding beyond our limited Facebook and Etsy presence.  We have established a permanent Domain URL (jonmicheledesigns.com) which will allow us to provide our patrons with a level of continuity that flows seamlessly between Etsy and Facebook.   We plan to utilize the excellence of Etsy for sales, and the ultimate ease of instant notification that Facebook allows for informing patrons and followers about show dates and locations.  We will seamlessly connect you from a full time online web portal presence to sell and be informed in a more personal and interactive way with our team members.  On our web site you will be able to find our New Gallery, which will showcase all of our newest designs as they are rolled out of our designs studio that will be available at upcoming shows..  It is an opportunity to get to have a first look at them before they go on sale. In our In-Stock & Novelty & Last Look Galleries you will find showcased all of our necklaces and earrings that are currently in-stock and already on sale on Etsy.   From our jonmichelleDesigns.com site you can be connected seamlessly to our Etsy sale page for more information about any item, and have the opportunity to purchase that item or additional others.  Most importantly our designs can be shared effortlessly with any of your family members, friends, and neighbors without them having to navigate to or be required to have an Etsy or Facebook account.  Our patrons and followers can get to know us and our mission online, and have the ability to interact with us, and be kept up with what is happening in our business.  You can see where we will be for future local craft shows because we never want to loose the opportunity to get to interact with our patrons and followers in a personal way.

Sharing it. Selling it. Supporting our community.

Our Online presence @ jonmichelledesigns.com in 2022 hasl allowed our patrons the ability to share our unique handcrafted jewelry & more with a much bigger audience by involving their family, friends, and neighbor. Much more than providing seamlessly a way to access our product, it now provides a seamless vehicle to purchase online our products through our Etsy purchase page.  Our team has been working diligently behind the scenes over the past two years to provide this absolutely seamless process without any frustration.  Everyone, both patrons and followers can comment back to us about our designs. We plan for our patrons to become involved with us through our design team members blogs hopefully to begin in in early 20223  Patrons and followers can subscribe to be added to our contact lists to receive emails and Facebook notifications about our product lines and our continuing areas of expansion of our business.  We even see the possibility of expanding from blogs into the possibility of “Podcasts” to be streamed periodically from our design studio.   As a local Oklahoma City business, we are very committed to paying back to our community as we grow.  We are strongly mission minded and have participated in the Church of The Servant’s, Earthglow Holiday Craft Market, and Heart of Yukon Arts and Craft Event of the United Methodist Church’s of Yukon which funds many worthwhile ministries around Oklahoma City.  We are also proud supporters of our local OKC Chapter of the Oklahoma Alzheimer’s Association, through our participation in The Santa Market each fall.  As we continue to grow we plan to expand into other venues in the Oklahoma city area.  Hopefully you will want to team with us by continuing to follow us and support us by purchasing our designs at these and other venues, and online which we pay back to our community through our growth.  We would ask you to give to help support the Alzheimer’s Association through our Take Action page, or to any other worthwhile organizations we might list for direct giving around the Oklahoma City area on our web site.
